What an entertaining book, I was gripped from the outset but then about halfway through #OMGthatTwist I did not see it coming and as well as taking me completely by surprise and giving me pause for thought, it also made me appreciate how incredibly clever the writing in this book is.

The story of Vanessa, married to but now the ex wife of charming, handsome and successful Richard.  They were beautiful and rich and their marriage was going to be perfect, to last forever.  As the story is told in the third person narrative we learn what happened, as well as what came before and after.  The story is told in the current time and also in the past, but succeeds in doing this without any confusion or disruption in the flow of the writing.

I enjoyed this novel a lot, I found it entertaining and gripping and I did not want to put it down.  The plot was very original, the characters were mostly likeable, particularly Vanessa and the story felt authentic.  Written to entertain this book certainly does that, it had several twists – the massive one in the middle but others too, none of which I predicted.  Everything in the story concluded nicely, which I also appreciate, in this book when I reflected on finishing, I was left feeling that all words were considered and relevant to the story.
