Formerly inseparable, Thomas, Maxime and Fanny – Vinca’s best friends – have not spoken in twenty-five years.  But when they receive an invitation to their school’s anniversary reunion, they know they must go back one final time.

Because there is a body buried in that building… …and they’re the ones who put it there.

My Thoughts

I was sent a proof copy of this book by Orion Books, thank you very much to the publisher and Tracey Fenton for inviting me to be involved with this blog tour.  The back of the book says, ‘Guillaume Musso is the biggest bestselling author you’ve never read – until now.’  ‘The Reunion is the book you won’t be able to put down this summer.’  Two very true facts.

I loved The Reunion, an intricate ‘whodunnit’ that continued to evolve and keep me guessing throughout.  Set in the French Riveria, the location alone makes for a perfect beach read.  Written primarily in the present day when our main protagonist Tommy returns to his school for a reunion, prompted to attend by a call from his childhood best friend who shares some concerning information about an unsolved mystery of a missing girl.

With some chapters set 25 years previously the reader is given a unique insight into the circumstances then and now.  The story is written mainly in the first person voice of Tommy, although we do hear some other perspectives which serve to create a wider picture.  The chapters were short enough to justify reading, ‘just one more’, and I particularly liked the fact that the chapters all had sub chapters within.

I enjoyed this book a lot, the characters were well formed and felt authentic, the plot although detailed was easy to follow, with clever twists throughout which I must confess kept me guessing.
