Book Description

THE LAST THING A TWIN EXPECTS IS TO BE ALONE…

Molly lives a quiet, contained life in London. Naturally risk averse, she gains comfort from security and structure. Every day the dame.

Her identical twin Katie is her exact opposite: gregarious and spontaneous. They used to be inseparable, until Katie moved to New York a year ago. Molly still speaks to her daily without fail.

But when Molly learns that Katie has died suddenly in New York, she is thrown into unfamiliar territory. Katie is part of her DNA. As terrifying as it is, she must go there and find out what happened. As she tracks her twin’s last movements, cracks begin to emerge. Nothing is what it seems. And a web of deceit is closing around her.

My Thoughts

Thank you to Jenny at Hodder for inviting me to be involved in this blogtour celebrating publication of Frist Born next week and of course, for providing me with a proof copy of the book to review. I read and reviewed The Last Thing to Burn last year (read my review here) and that was my first introduction to Will Dean. I was hooked, so it was without hesitation that I signed up for the promotion of this book.

First Born is told in the first person voice of Molly, we meet her as she receives the news that her sister has been found dead in her New York apartment. Extremely risk adverse, Molly lives a cautious life, but reluctantly makes the journey across the Atlantic to join her parents in mourning the death of Katie and striving to understand what happened.

On arrival in New York Molly braves the city and seeks to establish the reasons behind Katie’s death. We meet the twins parents as well as Katie’s best friend and boyfriend, plus the investigating detective. Suspicion is cast around and it seems several could have a motive for killing Katie, but Molly digs deeper and more theories emerge…Turning this novel into a suspenseful and twisty thriller.

A real page turner, I was captivated and it is fair to say that Will Dean is becoming an auto buy author for me. This review is part of a blog tour so do check out what others are saying about this great book.
