Book Description

The Sandman killings have been solved. Daniel Miller murdered fourteen people before he vanished. His wife, Carrie, now faces trial as his accomplice. The FBI, the District Attorney, the media and everyone in America believe she knew and helped cover up her husband’s crimes.

Eddie Flynn won’t take a case unless his client is innocent. Now he has to prove to a jury, and the entire world, that Carrie Miller was just another victim of the Sandman. She didn’t know her husband’s dark side and she had no part in the murders. But so far, Eddie and his team are the only ones who believe her.

Gabriel Lake used to be a federal agent, before someone tried to kill him. Now, he’s an investigator with a vendetta against the Sandman. He’s the only one who can catch him, because he believes that everything the FBI knows about serial killers is wrong.

With his wife on trial, the Sandman is forced to come out of hiding to save her from a life sentence. He will kill to protect her and everyone involved in the case is a target.

My Thoughts

Thanks so much to Alex at Orion for sending me a proof copy of The Accomplice, Steve Cavanagh’s latest legal thriller. These dark, gritty dramas are perfect for fans of crime fiction like me! You can read my review of Fifty Fifty here, I was a bit late to the Steve Cavanagh party but let me assure you, now I am here I ain’t going nowhere!

Eddie Flynn takes on an impossible case, Carrie Miller is convincing, he believes she is innocent, but there is overwhelming evidence against her and in the absence of her husband – still on the run but indisputably the Sandman the world blames the wife, the woman, how could she not have known that her husband was a serial killer? On top of that there is compelling evidence against her.

In this tense legal thriller Eddie and his team are racing against time to win this case, but as with all Steve Cavanagh novels this is a twisty read and not everything is as it seems.

Told from a range of perspectives including Fynn’s and the notorious Sandman this novel is nothing short of brilliant. I loved the involvement of the FBI, the notion of profiling serial killers and the interesting character of Lake. Flynn’s team are superb and I particularly love the kick-ass Bloch, fans of this series will be familiar with these characters, but for newbies there is no reason why you can’t pick up The Accomplice as your first Steve Cavanagh read.

An excellent read that throws you into the world of crime and justice. Very highly recommended.
